Has anyone read that series? How about did anyone watch it tonight on the CW? I was planning on watching it but didn't get a chance. If anyone has read the series can you please give me the play by play so I'll have some background information before getting into the show? thank you.

I read the series and watched it tonight and I'm on the fence. They changed a lot...Elena is brunette, but should be blond. Where is her other friend Meredith? Who's that dude living w/ Stephen? And wasn't Carolyn not cool with them? Elena didn't have a brother? Oye, so many questions lol. The thing I loved most was Stephen, Damon & Matt, all were great with casting them...the rest eh. Overall, it was okay, I hope it gets better...wat did you think??
I've only read the first book, and wasn't a big fan of it. Like Eleni pointed out there are tons of changes with characters from the book to the show.
What I did like in the show was that Elena was written a real personality. (I wanted to slap her in the books.) It wasn't bad for an opener. I plan to at least watch a few more episodes before I make up my mind. (And to stare at Damon's face some more too.)
