The Best Short Story Ever

"The Best Short Story Ever."Well actually that might be an OVERSTATEMENT but that's why I need your help. You could be the one to make my short story a better, if not the best short story ever. We had to write a jack tale and well, here's a look into mine.

AB- The Affronted Bee:
The day continued on like it had begun. No bee made a snide comment towards Jr. It was like they had all been transformed; and Jr. could not have liked it any other way. His days were getting better at Beecker’s Academy; even Jinx was beginning to take note. There was a sudden swiftness in Jr.’s movement she had never felt before. It was absolute bliss, for a while.

If you think that's semi-interesting, then that's great. If you'd like to read the whole shebang, then that's even better. Just email me stellargurl93[at]aim[dot]com and I'll send it to you, in hopes that I will get some feed back. So hop on the wagon, if you want, and help my short story be the best. I would greatly appreciated your input. Thanks.

"A Big Fat Greek Mess"

Twisted Sisters
Stephanie Hale

Graduation has just rounded and corner and we’re introduced to the new and improved Aspen Brooks. After last year’s stunts, Aspen has turned a whole new leaf. She now thinks of others before herself, even if it puts her life in danger, literally. She’s in a total state of empathy. In this twisted sequel to Revenge of the Homecoming Queen, Aspen Brooks is at it again, this time, solving the campus mystery that even the cops couldn’t get their hands on.

Mitzi, Harry’s niece has been missing from the Zeta House for quite a while now. Aspen, being the loving self she now is, makes it her mission, to find out what really happened to Mitzi. All that was left of her was a trace of blood, and a necklace, evidence the precedent police officers were incapable of noticing.

After landing a spot in the Zeta house, Aspen begins to have uncertainties. These girls are nothing like what a sorority house should be like. Luckily, her roommate, Charm, is the only “sane” one in the house, Mitzi’s old roomy. But when Aspen can hardly find time to spend with Charm, doubts start arising.

In this trilled sequel, Aspen takes on more that she can handle. She never sees Rand anymore; instead she’s found spending more time with his irresistibly smoking hot roommate, and trying not to fall for him while not getting herself killed. College is not all what she’d thought it to be. All in all, Twisted Sisters was a pretty good book. Fans of Revenge of the Homecoming Queen will like this one all the same.

There's a New Song on the Block...and CD

Has anyone heard the new Kanye West song yet? OH man, it's sooo good, I love it. But that might be bias, seeing as I love anything by Kanye West. He's my favorite artist and his past three CD's have been AWESOME. College Dropout[2004], Late Registration[2005], Graduation[2007]. With this new song out, I wonder if there's going to be a new cd tagging along with it? I sure do hope so. But if you already haven't, YOU need to go listen to Love Lockdown and Heartless by Kanye West. He is PURE GREATNESS. It's like a whole new sound. Don't really get the video of Love Lockdownthough...

......THIS JUST IN.....
According to wiki, Kanye has apparently been working on a fourth cd [808s & Heartbreak yay] which is scheduled to air November 15, 2008. HOW COME NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS? MAN, IT MUST HAVE BEEN TOP SECRET OR SOMETHING. Does anyone know what 808 means? Like I've heard other artist use it but I don't know what it means. And the video of Love Lockdown is alredy out on youtube. How could I not have known about all of this? I'm going to have to sign up for some Kanye West newsletters now. Is anyone else just now hearing all this for the first time or am I alone?

You Learn Something New Everyday

There's this old saying that you learn something new everyday and I learned something new today. anagram
I had never heard of that work before. I read it over at John Green's website [I figured it was time I saw what all the talk was about] and I had no clue what he was talking about. I had to dictionary search it. But I'm glad I did cause it just adds to my knowledge. An anagram is a word that can be rearranged into another word or a mumble of letters that need to be arranged into a word. I guess it's kind of like how you can wirte a word and mix up the letters in the middle and still raed it as it shulod be spelled. It's like your brian autamotacilly recingozes the actual word. It's pretty cool. Not knowing what ANAGRAM meant got me to thinking though. From what I've read, most people say that John Green doesn't "dumb" things down in his books. If I didn't know what anagram meant, imagine what it'd be like, for me, to read an entire book of his. I'd be reading the dictionary too. lol. Which brings me to point out those SAT Vocabulary Novels. That's pretty cool how they have all those big words in a YA book that we can relate to. A friend read one of them and said it was really good. I'm just started on Busted, it's the first book in the series. So far, so good and I've learned some new big words [if only anagram had been one of them. lol]. I just thought I'd share that little tid-bit with you.

You Know You Love Me…. -A[lison]

Pretty Little Liars
Sara Shepard

Who would want to read a book with a doll on the cover? I mean, isn’t that for like middle graders? WRONG. Pretty Little Liars might start off with the characters in their middle grade years, but before long, they’ve already bloomed into full fledged high school students with personalities of their own.

Hanna, Spencer, Aria and Emily were all nobody’s, till Allison found them. Together, they built a friendship, but it was all based on secrets. The only secret the girls didn’t realize was, Allison was the only reason they had become friends in the first place. She was their glue, the only thing holding the girls together. Without her, those girls had nothing in common, well maybe just one thing. So what happens without Ali in their lives? Exactly, they all go their separate routes.

Hanna is the school’s tease. After losing all that weight, she and Mona have become the best of friends. Emily paid more attention to swimming. She now hangs out with the swim team, and her boyfriend, who just so happens to also be on the swim team. Spencer is still the “best” at everything and her sister’s boyfriends continue to flirt with her. Aria, the unique one of the group, has just returned and is even more unique. Her and her family had moved out of the country for two years. Each girl was finally able to find a place in the world, no longer in Ali’s shadow, so what more do they have in common? Could it be those random texts they’ve been getting from A? But who is A, no one knows. We only know who we think it might be? It couldn’t be Alison though could it? I mean she’s gone, right? Whoever A is, she’s definitely someone who clearly knows all the girls’ secrets.

The plot is very intriguing and it just keeps the reader wanting more. After reading this book, you are left with an abundance of questions that you can’t wait till you get your hands on its sequel [FLAWLESS]. What really happened with Jenna? Is A really Allison’s ghost? Will the friends reunite or go back their separate ways? Pretty Little Liars is a perfect example of a cliffhanger ending, and I loved every minute of it. I would recommend it to fans/readers or Gossip Girls, the A List, and just any YA reader in general. It’s a book to die for. I just love how it ended.

What To Do Now

After all this posting and web surfing, I think I deserve a break. I've been on here since I got back form school, which was like 5hours ago, and I don't know if my eyes can take anymore of this screen. [I don't know how some people read books online, man, that would just kill me]. I think I'm going to go do some Reading, Dishes [cause that's soo much fun..NOT], call my sister, [I think she deserves and update too..lol], or watch tv [if there's a movie on cause NOTHING comes on tonight.]

Blog Update

Interviews!

I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED. Sarah Pekkanen has agreed for me to interview her. This is going to be my very first interview so I am both EXCITED and NERVOUS. She's a new and up coming author so you better be on the look out in the upcoming years. Any advise or tips you have for me while doing this interview would be very helpful and greatly appriciated. But check back in a week or two for the interview... yay!

Books!
I also finally got my hands on Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard, although I'm not finished with Twisted Sisters by Stephanie Hale, I just couldn't help myself from starting PLL. And now, I can't keep my hands off that book, It's just soo good. But I should be finished with it soon, meaning that there should be an upcoming review, along with a review for Twisted Sisters also. I don't have that much left either. But as you well know, I am very inconsistent when it comes to reviewing so upcoming can mean like anytime from now to next month. I know, I'm that bad. But if I can put myself on a schedule, or have some type of deadline, Darn my felxible schedule(LOL), then I would definitely do a better job on my time management skills. But untill then, I'll just see what I can do, and hopefully, you guys will be able to work with me here..
Thanks for your patients.

Contests! YOUR favorite part!
There's another contest going on that you guys should know about. I can't believe I forgot to mention it, I can be soo absent minded sometimes. Jessica Verday, author of The Hollow, is having a "13 Days of HOLLOW-een" contest. How cool is that? Starting today till the big day(Hollow-een) she'll be giving away a lot of cool snags and it's really easy to enter. Everday day, all you need to do is leave a comment at her Myspace, Blogspot, and Livejournal. What's more easier than just leaving a comment? I mean all you really have to say is "Awesome Contest!" and automatically, you'll be entered to win some cool stuff. So don't hesitate, just head on over to her Myspace, Blogspot, or Livejournal for your chance at some cool snags. Don't forget to keep and eye out for the book in 2009.
Also, these contests/giveaways are still in play..hehe
Secret Fates
YA Books Central
Thursday Tales
I Heart You, You Haunt Me
$25 I-Tune Gift Card
In Too Deep
AND DON'T FORGET THE 24 HOUR READ-A-THON[Which is TOMORROW!!!]

Questions for My Readers!
-When I do a blogupdate, should I put everything together like I do right now or should I seperate it all into different posts?
-Is there really a difference between "Contests" and "Giveaways"

Other Random Junk!
(cause you know I can't post without random junk included..lol)
I got my report card and it's SUPERB so that's a mega PLUS.
I'm having trouble listening to music. Like I don't even know what to listen to anymore. The last CD I was really hooked onto was Irony and Agony by Alkaline Trio. I'm into like rap and contempoary, punk rock so any recommendations? My sister recommended Deathcab For Cutie but I haven't checked them out yet..
I'm in a good mood today!
........................................
I don't really know what else. So I guess I'll Stop Right Here.. =)
And I totally changed my siggy.. hehe [although i think i need to increase its size]

Beauty and the Geek?

Revenge of the Homecoming Queen
Stephanie Hale

Aspen Brooks is spoiled and conceited, not exactly the traits we all would like to have. She thinks that she’s better than everyone else and the ground on which she walks should be worshiped. Unfortunately, for her, not everyone is on that same radar.

Its suppose to be the best day of her life, she’d been looking forward to it since before her birth, but Aspen Brooks’ day just goes from bad to worst in a number of hours. She isn’t crowned homecoming queen, her tire gets slashed, her inhaler gets stolen, causing her to have a near death experience, AND like there’s anything left that could have gone wrong, it was Rand Bachrach, the school’s GEEK, whom came to her rescue.

Of course Aspen blames all her bad luck on her enemy, Angel Ives, but Angel isn’t turning up anywhere. Actually, she is nowhere to be found. Was she was kidnapped, Aspen thinks differently. But when more mysterious events continually trail after Aspen’s every step, even she starts of have second thoughts. Someone must be out to get her, but who and why? With those unanswered questions lingering in the air, Comfort High’s Beauty and Geek pull a Nancy Drew as they partner up to solve the mystery of all times.

I thought this book was going to be predictable. I figured it would be about a prep that can’t stand to have a hair out of place. She and her enemy would have an on-going war. You know typical high school drama. Thankfully, I was wrong. This just goes to prove that I shouldn’t be judging books by their cover in the first place.

Revenge of the Homecoming Queen turned out to be very insightful. I picked up the life lesson Stephanie Hale successfully gets across to the reader. Everyone is/was created Equal; no one is higher on the Food Chain than anyone else. I would recommend this book to all the Aspen Brooks in the world, you know who you are, and well, to just everyone else.

Blog Update

Since September is over with, I decided I needed to update the blog for October.
Starting with this months' contests/giveaways. As you can see, there's quite a list. Looks like October is the month to give away and WIN [we all like the sound of that] a lot of titles. And by a lot, I mean a lot. I find out about so many books through contest/giveaways alone than I would have ever known of. So not only are contests a good way to get FREE books, but also a GREAT way to get updated on all the titles out there.

Speaking of which, I think the biggest contest/giveaway happening so far this month is going on at Kelly Parra's Blog. In honor of her MTV Book release of Invisible Touch, she's having a Secret Fates Extravaganza Party and guess who's invited: EVERYONE including YOU! So head on over to her blog where everyday, except Sunday[which is when the winners will be posted], through out the month of Octobers, she's got 26 fantastic authors lined up to fill us in on some JUICY secrets. We all know there's nothing better than knowing other people's secrets. If you're more of a visual person, and don't like reading long posts, no matter how INTERESTING they might actually be, Kelly Parra has been so kind to post a video about it, showcasing all the titles that will be given away. Don't waste another minute. Head on over to Kelly Parra's Blog for some FANTABULOUS prizes. You have till Sunday to enter the week's contests.

I also updated my slide shows. I finished Size 12 Is Not Fat and I think I'll be reading Twisted Sisters, the sequel to Revenge of the Homecoming Queen next. And as for Thirteen Reasons Why, my teacher stopped reading it out loud to us so, I might see if she'll let me borrow it. Cause it's a book I WANT to finish.
